Dembele's going the wrong way.

Dembélé a day and a half without giving signs of life and is excused as having gastroenteritis.

Dembele is once again splashed with controversy. The young French striker has just adapted to Barcelona. The situation begins to be more than worrying. And the last episode starring 'the mosquito' doesn't help to reduce the tension.

The surprise has jumped in the training in the Sports City of Sant Joan Despí. A work session programmed by Ernesto Valverde which Ousmane Dembélé did not attend. And it is that the matter has not ended there.

Some of the club's employees tried to contact the Frenchman, although without success. More than an hour and a half later, the striker showed signs of life. Once they managed to talk to the player, they sent him home to the medical service to confirm the illness and treat it. A few hours later, official club sources pointed to gastroenteritis as the reason for his absence.

Some people don't believe it.

It's not the first absence in a French training under strange circumstances. Some doubt this version and point out that if it had really been a gastrointestinal affection, the footballer would have warned to inform of his absence from the preparatory session.

There are those who blame these delays to the supposed bad life that Dembele leads in his home in Barcelona. And it is that not only the party causes havoc among the soccer players. Video games with friends until late hours and junk food would be hampering the performance of crack azulgrana.

Dembélé has already starred in an episode like this and social networks are aware of it. "Gastroenteritis," some asked. The comings and goings of footballers no longer go unnoticed and people are getting tired.

Beyond the official communiqué issued by the club, the hermeticism with which the subject is being treated is total. Some begin to wonder why the heavyweights in the dressing room are covering it up.

Barcelona didn't like this incident at all. Their delays and absences in training have ceased to be seen as something casual and they attribute it to the lack of attitude that the player is showing this season.

-       Do you think Dembele is having an attitude that could be justified by his age?

-       What do you think about this player's behaviour?

  1. I agree that Dembelé is really young player and maybe the fame got through his head. Apart from that the gastroenteritis has been used for a lot of years to avoid some issues with a player or between players and managers and this could be why it's raising suspicion. Without knowing if the information is true or false, I personally think that Dembelé is a good player that hasn't adapted to the Barcelona's game and it's not feeling comfortable when he is inside the field, in this aspect, the heavyweights of the team have to talk with him and explain him what is to become a successful football player and that isn't only performing well in the pitch, it's a work of 24 hours a day, during 364 days a years (you can only rest the next day of winning a competition).

  2. We have to take into account that Dembele is a 20 year old guy, sometimes people tend to forget that footballers are also normal people with their daily lifes and we ask them to be 24 hours a day only thinking about football. Having said this i believe its unjustified his attitude because he is earning a lot of money every year and he should be professional with his job

    1. thank you for your comment Toni, we agree with you but it is the Barça, you know gives you no other option, then if you do not do whatever it takes for the fans to be happy with you, the fans will end up asking you to leave.

  3. I find It very stupid of Dembele acting this way at one of the best football clubs in the world. For most footballers it is a dream to play for this club and he is just not taking it serious. It seems to me that he has a lack of stucture and decency in his life.

However he also had the same behaviour in Dortmund, so Barcelona could have known how he usually behaves. I am not sure what Barcelona will do, but I don't think that he can continue this behavior.

  4. It wasn't gastronteritis, it was hangover. As Piqué said, we have to help Dembelé because football is 24 hours a day. He's young, yes, but he's also a professional who plays for the best club in the world. He can't do this. He's out of the team next year because Neymar is coming back. Good luck Ousmane for your career.

  5. Everyone knows that Dembélé is a young player that has a lot to improve on and off the pitch but someone should help him with the discipline. It shouldn't be permitted to arrive always late, don't go to the training session putting excuses and advise the club 2 hours later. He should know that he is a professional playing in the best team in the world and he can't act like that, he is young but not a kid.

  6. Dembele is an effective player, who understands the meaning of the game very well and is very fast although he must play in a simpler way. He is just as good on the right as he is on the left, thanks to his technical ability with both his right and left legs. His coaches cannot detect which is his best foot.

  7. Pere Teixidó: Obviously Dembele is a great player but I think that Barça precipitated paying that amount of money for him. Now that we have him signed the minimum is to make him follow the rules and discipline him. I think Valverde is doing a great job with him and should even be a little harder. If he continues with this attitude they should sell him in the winter market.

  8. This time it might have been stomach flu, but if the player showed signes of lack of dedication to the team in the past, it just doesn't show him in the best light. However if that wasn't true and the player just got drunk the night before, then he should be held liable, but I imagine that the team has experience in handling young players and will find ways to discipline the French forward.

First, what originally drew me to this article was the headline "Dembele not showing signs of life". My first interpretation of this was that Dembele is either dead or dying. I found that this was not the case. In actuality it is a blog about young athletes coming into a lot of money and whether or not they can handle the stardom. I've found that in a majority of these cases, a veteran is usually able to take these young athletes under their wing and solve the problem. I think this will be the case with Dembele as well due simply to the large number of veterans FC Barcelona has on its team.
